Walrus or Walruses are fascinating social creatures that spend nearly 2/3 of their life (up to 40 years) and mate (Jan to Mar) in icy northern waters. They prefer sea ice to land and congregate in large huddles (pods or herds) in the thousands. Females carry their offspring for 15/16 months and are very protective of their babies. Both Male and Female Walrus have tusks which are the canines of their 18 teeth and can grow up to a yard long, and which they use to pull themselves out of the water onto the sea ice or land and can appear to be used for walking. Their coloring is a cinnamon brown but they can turn to pink in the sun or nearly white from the cold water. Diminishing sea ice is the greatest threat to their numbers (approximately 250,000).

This was another special order for someone and the Artisan knew exactly what I was looking for, I know the person is going to love it! I can't recommend this Artisan and her shop more highly.
